The role of the engine water pump is to drive the coolant to dissipate the heat of the engine, to ensure its circulation in the cooling system, to keep the water circulating in the radiator, to take away the heat, and to ensure that the engine is not too hot. There are many water channels for cooling water circulation in the cylinder of the car engine, and these water channels are connected with the radiator placed at the front of the car through water pipes to form a large water cycle.

What is the function of the engine water pump

The role of the engine water pump is to drive the coolant to dissipate the heat of the engine, to ensure its circulation in the cooling system, to keep the water circulating in the radiator, to take away the heat, and to ensure that the engine is not too hot.

There are many water channels for cooling water circulation in the cylinder of the car engine. These water channels are connected with the radiator placed in the front of the car through water pipes to form a large water circulation system. The water pump is installed on the upper water outlet of the engine and is driven by the fan belt to pump out the hot water in the water channel of the engine cylinder and pump the cold water in. There is also a thermostat next to the water pump. When the car was first started, it was not turned on so that the cooling water would only circulate through the engine and not through the radiator. When the engine temperature reaches above 95 degrees, it will be turned on, the hot water in the engine will be pumped into the water tank, and the cold air in the car will blow through the water tank to take away the heat.

The working principle of the pump is that the engine drives the bearing and impeller of the pump to rotate through the pulley, and the coolant in the pump is driven by the impeller to rotate together. Under the action of centrifugal force, it is thrown to the edge of the pump casing, and a certain pressure is generated at the same time, and then flows out from the water outlet or water pipe. As the coolant is thrown out, the pressure at the center of the impeller decreases, and the coolant in the water tank is sucked into the impeller through the water pipe under the pressure difference between the inlet of the water pump and the center of the impeller to realize the reciprocating circulation of the coolant.

How often should the engine water pump be replaced?

The water pump has run 60,000 kilometers, it is better to replace it. The car with 60,000 kilometers needs a full repair, and the timing belt, tensioner pulley and three-piece water pump with timing need to be replaced. When you change the water pump, you can also change the antifreeze. If the water pump is replaced quickly, you only need to add some antifreeze, but if the antifreeze used is different from that of the 4S shop, the 4S shop cannot add it.

Everything can break, but the water pump is designed to be durable and generally does not need to be replaced regularly, but it still needs to be checked regularly. After all, the water pump is the heart of the cooling system. If the circulation capacity is insufficient, it will affect the direct use of the car.
